I just read Linda's message and thought "What? You mean Clint Eastwood did other things after he was in Rawhide?" If so, they didn't make as lasting an impression on us as did his role as Rowdy Yates (but he was no Gil Favor). Clint, while I still haven't gotten over that snubbing of us in '07, I will wish you a reasonably happy birthday. _________________ Regarding French wine: "Is there any other kind?"

Oddly enough this date comes around each year when we still share our wedding anniversary with Clint's birthday, imagine that. In fact we were such devoted fans we decided to get married on Clint's 50th birthday! Just kidding of course. Back then I had no idea when his birthday was, but it is true. 29th for us. We went to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. What a beautiful, yet quiet and restful time we had despite little kids everywhere. Big Guy! H B to Eric Fleming on his day. He may be gone but clearly not forgotten, as some of the more ardent fans of Rawhide and the Boss chose this weekend to meet up in Hollywood CA to celebrate his day AND the 50th anniversary year of the first airing of RH on American TV. It was a grand experience: we found Hollywood High, which EF attended briefly, the address in Hollywood Hills where he lived for a time, a nearby park where he played tennis, and because we love Rowdy too, we made pilgrimage to where CE left his hand and footprints (and the message, "You made my day") in cement outside Grauhman's Chinese Theater. We also saw the director's chair he used and a couple of costumes from the movie FireFox at Warner Brothers Studios, and checked out a lot of Griffith Park, where we suspect many of the outside, non-desert location scenes of RH were filmed. Much of the group (there were 12 in all) is still in Hollywood, soaking up the atmosphere and trying to keep out of the way of Michael Jackson tributes. Photos and more details will be posted later for anyone who might be interested. And once again, Happy Birthday Boss! We still love you! Pix

ERIC FLEMING - TRAIL BOSS GIL FAVOR - JULY 4, 1925 It was so much fun to celebrate your 84th birthday on July 4th in Hollywood with other members of the "RAWHIDE" group. We ate birthday cake and ice cream and sang "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to our favorite trail boss. Then we watched some episodes of Rawhide together.
